Why Fly Ash Bricks growing popularity:

The Ministry of Environment & Forest in 14th September, 1999, had issued a gazette notification stipulating that no person shall within a radius of fifty kilometers from coal or lignite based thermal power plants, be permitted to manufacture clay bricks or tiles or blocks for use in construction activity without atlease 25% of ash (fly ash, bottom ash or pond ash on weight to eight basis), within a radius of 50 km from coal or lignite based thermal power plants in India.

Again on 27th August,2003, the Ministry of Environment & Forest had amended the gazette notification making it compulsory to use flyash for manufacturing of building materials by :-

  • Increasing the radius from 50 Km to 100 Km
  • 25% use of flyash by 31st August,2004
  • 50% use of flyash by 31st August,2005
  • 75% use of flyash by 31st August,2006 and
  • 100% use of fly ash by 31st August,2007
